La Ceibatree Lodge

La Ceibatree Lodge is a beautiful, small hotel that is set right on the edge of the famous tropical rainforests of Costa Rica. Overlooking the warm, blue waters of the ocean, this place is a nature lover’s paradise. Located just 3.7 miles southeast from the town of Nuevo Arenal, this lodge sits on a wondrous thirty seven (37)  acres of land that also serves as a refuge for many of the flora and fauna of the area. The entrance to the property can be found on the highway between La Fortuna and Nuevo Arenal. The altitude here is measured at about 1500 feet and this provides the most spectacular view that one can endure. It is one of the hotels that make up the Charming Hotels and it seeks in every way to live up to this expectation. These hotels operate under the same philosophy and seek to provide personalized attention to each guest.

The lodge gets its name from the ceiba tree that dominates the property. Majesty and graceful, this tree is the embodiment of the will to live and survive, thrive and nourish. The tree is thought to be over five hundred years (500) old and has proven its worth in more ways than one. In 2006, it was chosen as the “tree of the year” and it continues to flourish and provide a habitat for many countless species including ferns, bromeliads and orchids. A number of birds and insects also make their home within its barks and shade.

On this property, guests, owners and staff share the space with myriad creatures. Toucans and hummingbirds are just two of the colorful, wonderful species of birds that find refuge here. Howler monkeys are also frequently seen here. While the animals made their homes outside, guests have a choice of five, brightly decorated and spacious rooms equipped with their own private baths. The rooms also come with a safe and a large verandah with hammocks from which to sit and watch the magnificent sunset. The staff is multilingual and speaks German, Spanish and English. They are friendly and capable and take great pleasure in ensuring your vacation is well spent.

The activities that guests can share in are quite diverse and interesting. They entertain as well as give guests a chance to experience a part of the rich cultural heritage of Costa Rica. Entertaining activities include sports such as kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and river rafting. Guests can also go on trail hikes and sight see. They can also go horse-back riding or take bike tours. There are also cultural tours to visit the Maleku Indians or see the daily operations at a Costa Rican farm.
