sam, January 31, 2012February 24, 2013

tenorio lodge

Built on a 17-acre property in the heart of stunning tropical vegetation at an altitude of 1640 ft, Tenorio Lodge is a striking natural paradise featuring a landscape comprising Heliconia gardens, ponds and indigenous trees. The property premises are also home to hundreds of unusual bird species and innumerable fruit trees. Unpretentious, yet comfortable, attractive and elegant; the Tenorino Lodge combines an unforgettable Costa Rican vacation experience with responsible conservation initiatives. Some sustainable practices followed by the lodge include energy conservation, waste reduction, renewable energy and recycling programs, among several similar projects. Tenorio also encompasses innumerable walking trails for adventure struck guests and a couple of hot cedar tubs for the less energetic ones.

Activities and Amenities

Tenorio’s strategic location makes it a convenient starting point for a wide range of activities. Visitors can enjoy bird watching at Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge ( a haven for observing several exciting species of mammals, reptiles, birds and insects) or the Palo Verde National Park (a bird lover’s paradise, it houses more than 300 species of exotic neotropical birds along with crocodiles and a nice collection of mammals ) or hike/mountain bike through the Bijagua Valley (to witness panoramic views of the region’s volcanoes and Nicaragua Lake). Guided horseback riding through a pretty landscape that leads to the Tenorio Volcano is another popular guest activity. A guided trip to the hanging bridges of Las Heliconias with a stopover at a lush butterfly garden (see insects, Heliconias species and orchids) also scores well with guests. Rafting on the Tenotio and Corobio River, treetop canopy tours (to enjoy aerial forest views) and a tour to Las Hornillas are included in Tenorino’s comprehensive activities’ list. In addition to this, visitors can enjoy walking through the lodge property and spot wildlife and bird species like porcupines, sloths, snakes, tocucans, hurler monkeys, capuchins, caracaras, blue jays and many more. Guests can also explore their surroundings by embarking on self-guided trails or simply relax within the bountiful confines of the lodge.

In-house amenities at Tenorio Lodge include a souvenir shop, hot cedar tubs, bar, restaurant and several nature trails.

Accommodations at the Tenorio Lodge comprise eight well-planned and spacious bungalows, which are each, equipped with a king size bed and a queen size bed (covered by orthopedic mattresses and mosquito nets) along with a silent fan and a bathroom (with a solar water heating system).
