Sunset Shack Hotel Monirul Hoque, August 7, 2014August 7, 2014 The Sunset Shack can be referred to as a boutique hostel, a small lodging that gives accommodation to travelers of a specific type. The type of lodger that is catered to at the Sunset Shack is surfers. However, anyone is welcome. The hostel is located close to the quiet, peaceful town of Nosara, almost five meters from the Playa Guiones in Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The location is strategically positioned to be close to the Nosara Beach, the Safari Surf School, and the Garza Beach. It is also in close proximity to the Nosara Wildlife Rescue Park. This hostel has only eight rooms from which to choose. Three of these rooms are private suites that cost just a little bit more than the other shared rooms. Each shared room can accommodate up to six persons and comes with individual lockers that each person can use to store their belongings. The main event here is the surfing so as a surfer’s paradise, preference is given to the most important piece of equipment: the surfing board. Each room, whether shared or private, comes with surfer racks for board storage. Each room also comes stocked with a mini-bar and a small kitchenette where coffee/tea can be made. As a place for tourists, Sunset Shack offers all the amenities of a big hotel and more. There is an outdoor pool, a health club and a fitness center. Free wireless Internet service is also available at all public spaces and within the rooms. A restaurant can be found on the grounds that serves simple but delicious cuisine made from seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as the freshest of seafood. The ambience in the restaurant is one of comfort and jungle coziness where guests can spend some time bonding over exotic cocktails or luscious meals. Other amenities include a complimentary breakfast, a lobby where coffee/tea is served, a parking area where vehicles can be parked by guests and dry cleaning/laundry services. For a place that is set in the middle of a tropical paradise, it could be considered enough to simply bask in your surroundings. However, Sunset Shack is so strategically placed and organized that there is always something for the guests to do. Guests can become involved in activities in neighboring Guiones or stay at the hostel for what is offered there. In Guiones, guests can do stand up paddle boarding, surf the waves on the Nosara Beaches, become involved in yoga sessions or classes, go kayaking or catch fish. Among the activities available at the Sunset Shack is lounging in the pool area or lounge or becoming a part of the surf excitement that permeates the grounds. Lessons are offered here by ISA certified instructors who ensure that even the most inexperienced person learn how to surf and more importantly enjoy themselves. The lessons are usually one and a half hours long and are determined according to the tide and conditions of the water. Boards are available on grounds for rental daily or weekly.
