Hacienda Baru National Refuge and Lodge is situated in the Southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. This lodge is working hard for protecting the wildlife habitats, natural resources of the area and to give firsthand knowledge to the guests about its biological wealth. Hacienda Baru offers ecologically oriented tours, adventures and tourist services.

Accommodation:

The hotel rooms are classified into three categories: Standard rooms, Economy cabins and Superior cabins. Six new pool view guest rooms are offered at this lodge and each of these rooms are equipped with a king size bed and a single bed, a large bathroom with hot water shower and safe. The lodge is built with the materials that are eco friendly such as its attractive roof is made from recycled plastic bags, and not a single piece of woods used came from a natural forest rather all of the teak and gmelina wood used in the construction and making the furniture collected from the property’s own plantations. Hot water for the bathrooms provided from the solar heaters. There is a swimming pool that works with an Ozone Purification System and uses only 1/10 of the amount of chlorine that a regular pool would use.

If you go with your family you can stay at one of the four Superior Cabins that are recently remodeled and conveniently located midway between the restaurant, hammock house and the pool.. Each of the cabins have two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with one double (which can be turned into two single) and one single bed, a bathroom with hot water shower a living room, a kitchenette with basic cooking and eating utensils, and a screened porch.  In all the rooms there are also fridge, coffee maker, hot plate and ceiling fans in all the rooms.

Dining Area:

Hacienda Baru Lodge has an open air dining area surrounded by natural beauty. There are five exclusive chambers for the customers and if you want to enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner with your partner or something very special for your family, it can also be arranged. Here you will find typical Costa Rican food, a variety of dishes, a wide selection of fruit drinks known as FRESCOS means refreshing, soft drinks, a selection of Costa Rican beer.

Self Guided Attraction:

The self – guided attractions at Hacienda Baru are free for lodge guests:

Bird Watching Tower – It is a seven meter tower on top of a small hill. From the tower you will enjoy bird watching and if you visit the tower before 7:00 AM or after 3:00 PM, you can enjoy best birding.

Butterfly Garden -If you visit the butterfly garden, you will be able to enjoy watching a representative sample of local butterflies along with some basic information about them.

Orchid Garden –

You will find only local species of orchids in the Hacienda Baru orchid garden. There are both large and tiny flowers and some of those are colorful and some are plain.

Nature Trails-

All of the nature trails have informative signs with information about the flora and fauna. These trails will help you to enjoy the wide diversity of tropical nature.

Hiking in the Rainforest:

While staying at the lodge, you can enjoy twilight hiking, Pre Columbian Rainforest Experience, Canopy Exploration and Zip lining, climbing and many more.
